Oops, we've done it again

When Xander passed away unexpectedly in the spring, he was just starting to warm up to Olive. Although it's tough to know exactly how he felt about this young and highly (overly?) affectionate interloper, it seemed he was enjoying the company and was definitely becoming a bit less of an old curmudgeon with her. Olive has some great dogpark friends in Oscar and, more recently, Oly, but her attempts to play with the cats clearly highlight her desire for more playtime.

It only seemed fitting that for her first birthday (Nov 1st), we got Olive a lil brudder. Oz(ymandias) is a 10-week old (Aug 20th b-day) Alaskan Husky.

From what we've been told, Oz is highly intelligent and engaging. We're just starting to see him come out of his shell, but already, he and Olive are playing as well as any of her other best friends (despite the 4x weight difference --- she's careful and gentle but enthusiastic).

Oz uses "safe" places like under the bed or coffee table or desk to tip the balance against her larger foe.

Olive is amazing in how she plays. She's jumping all over the place and loves playing with Oz but is careful to let him "win" some of the time.

Tug of war starts like this, then ends quickly with Olive thrashing her head around, pulling the toy out of Oz's little puppy grip.

We're now a balanced family with boys and girls in every species: cat, dog and people!

I really miss Zander...I have to agree with karimio!

Does Oz know anything about picking NFL winners yet?
