Creekboat!!!
i found a creekboat on the cheap (Dagger CFS) and took it out on the river last weekend for a first run. creekers are are longer, more rounded and have much more volume than a playboat (which is what my other kayak is), so you can punch through and pop out of nasty places easier. as Raminta and i get into more technical river (class IV+) sections, this boat will make life much easier/safer. joy.
oh, and before i forget... the new guy's name is "Cricket" (aka "Creek-it")...
Top Drop (White Salmon River)
this first shot isn't a tough rapid, but i really liked the look of the water coming off the bow of the boat.
Sunset Falls (EF Lewis River)
there are three lines on this waterfall. i've run close to the far side of the river at low water in my playboat. there's also a double-drop option on the near bank, but i'm sticking to easy lines while i get comfortable with the new rig.
Horseshoe Falls (EF Lewis River)
horseshoe is my favorite looking waterfall. there are a lot of options for where to go. this move down the rock is the easiest, but it also makes the ride last a little longer, lingering (sliding) beyond the point of no return a bit longer than a single large drop.
